Review of Ohria Ayurveda Raatrani & Mint Facial Mist

Hi all,
Hope you are doing good. I have recently started having a love for hydrosols. Yes, the pure steam-distilled ones. Not the usual Dabur, Banjara’s or Khadi rose waters. I have used them in the past and found they did nothing for my skin, so stopped buying them. But then came in brands like Kama Ayurveda, Forest Essentials bringing in actual hydrosols. I then realised what I had been using previously was just rose oil dissolved in water. But hydrosols actually are very different. They are produced by steam distilling fresh flowers, leaves, fruits and other plant materials. This process yields both essential oil as well as hydrosol. Essential oil is the concentrated oil from distillation and contains the oil soluble constituents. While hydrosol, which is the water-based part, carry the hydrophilic properties (water-soluble components) of the plant. There are different hydrosols in the market like rose, lavender, vetiver, peppermint, eucapytus, neroli, tea tree etc. Today I will be reviewing a facial mist from the brand Ohria Ayurveda which is actually a combination of two different hydrosols. Ohria Ayurveda is a new luxury, ayurvedic beauty brand in the market. I have given a brief introduction about this brand in ,my previous post, Ohria Ayurveda Haldi, Besan and Marigold Skin Brightening The Traditional Bath Soap. Do check out the above link to know more about the brand, its values and ingredients.

Ohria Ayurveda Raatrani & Mint Facial Mist comes in a plastic bottle packaging with a spray pump dispenser. The design on the packaging looks luxurious and classy.

Ohria Ayurveda Raatrani & Mint Facial Mist has a heavenly, soothing scent of jasmines. There are many varieties of jasmines and Raatrani is the night-blooming jasmine. I was expecting a combination of soothing jasmine and fresh mint scent as well. But the mint scent is not very prominent. And the jasmine is what I could smell. It looks pale white in color and the consistency is just like water.

I like to use Ohria Ayurveda Raatrani & Mint Facial Mist both as toner as well as facial mist. After cleansing my face, I spray some on a cotton pad and wipe my face with it. This cleanses away the remaining dirt or residue after face wash. Unlike other toners, this is very gentle on the skin and doesn’t dry the skin. I also like to spray this as a facial mist whenever am feeling tired to refresh myself and it instantly hydrates dull and tired-looking skin.

Some people feel that facial mists are just waters and they don’t do anything for the skin. I myself had that thought for a long time. But once I started using pure hydrosols, it was very different. Hydrosols penetrate into the deeper layer of your skin and hydrate from within. They are not just waters as they have the water-soluble compounds of the plant, flowers in them. If you use hydrosols regularly, you can see a major difference in your skin hydration, a soft glow and plumped skin.

What I like about Ohria Ayurveda Raatrani & Mint Facial Mist is that it has both cleansing as well as hydrating properties. Mint cleanses while jasmine hydrates. It gives smooth, hydrated and glowing skin. And the scent of the night jasmine is just so relaxing and puts me to sleep.
