Detox Routine For The Festive Season To Get Glowing Skin

Hi guys,
The festive season has begun and its my favorite time of the year. During this time, one can feel the happiness and positivism in the air all around. Meeting friends and relatives, lighting up homes with deepams, cooking delicious sweets and snacks at home, shopping for dresses, etc, the festive season is really endless fun. There are a line of religious holidays lined up, from Ganesh Chathurthi, Varalakshmi & Dassehra Puja holidays and finally Diwali. Am sure we all want to look good in this festive period whether we are in home or at work. At home, we are sure to be meeting lot of relatives and friends during this time. And at office, many workplaces will be celebrating these festivals too with team lunches, ethnic dress day and lots of sweets, savouries and goodies. So I would suggest you to start a detox routine to flaunt the flow and radiance this festive season. Here’s how you can:

Simple wholesome food:

Diet plays an important role in getting healthy, glowing skin so You might want to look at this Skincare For Men tips and advices to get your skin glowing and thriving. Avoid eating junk, fried and oily food as you don’t want acne and breakouts during this time. I usually stick to simple home style meals like two phulkas, little rice, dal and some vegetable. You can also have wholesome one-pot meals like dal khichdi, sambar rice, rajma chawal etc. For morning breakfast, try to have simple idly, poha, upma, puttu, oats or muesli. Snack on nuts and dry fruits like walnuts, almonds, cashews, raisins, etc.

Detox drinks:

For detoxing, am currently having the Unicity Super Chlorophyll which is working well. It also helps to cool down the body heat. You can also try green tea or herbal teas. I recently tried couple of variants from Organic India’s Tulsi herbal teas and they are very good. Another new tea which I stumbled upon was Areca Tea. Areca Nuts are rich in antioxidants, proline and natural anti-aging molecules. I got the lemon variant. But they also have others like mint, tulsi, ginger, etc. This tea doesn’t have any bitterness. It is actually slightly, faintly sweet. But I could see amazing results with it. It improved my metabolism, digestion and appetite. I was feeling more energetic and alert. Would recommend this Areca Tea. You can check out this brand here:
* Areca Tea combo (30 tea bags) – Rs.225
* Areca Mint Tea (10 tea bags) – Rs.75
You can also have fruit infused waters to keep you hydrated. My new office is having these and I just love sipping on them all day.

Using gold and other jewel based skincare:

There are many gold based skincare products available in the market and festive season is the best time to try them. Who doesn’t want to shine like pure gold at this time 😀 . You can also try other jewel based ones, like pearl, silver, platinum, etc. Some of my recommendations are:
* Jovees Ultra Radiance Gold Face Wash (I have used this and was quite surprised at how well it works for the price. Contains fruit and flower extracts as well. Suitable for all skin types)
* Banjara’s Gold Face Pack (Very affordable. Works quickly on tan and brightening)
* Jovees Pearl Whitening Face Wash
* Lotus Herbals Radiant Platinum Cellular Anti-Aging Facial Kit
* Vedic Line Pearl Pishthi Moisture Serum with Jasmine Oil
* Mond’sub Gold Sheet Mask
* Vaadi Herbals 24 Carat Gold Massage Cream and Cleansing Cream

Traditional ubtans for the festive glow:

If you have never tried an ubtan before, now is the right time. Ubtans are traditionally made from grains, nuts, herbs, flowers and are a rich treat for the skin. Instead of using a body wash, use this to cleanse your body and you would be surprised with the glow. My recommendations:
* Skincarevilla Ubtan (most affordable and gives nice glow, radiance)
* Just Herbs Body Luster Sandal-Turmeric Ubtan Pack
* Vilvah Royal Ubtan Body Mask
* Vedantika Herbals Bridal Ubtan

Nourishing hair mask for smooth, silky hair:

Take care of your mane also as you would want to flaunt your thick, smooth and silky hair, right? Try a banana, coconut milk hair mask if you have dry and frizzy hair. Go for a hibiscus and curd hair pack if you need more volume and bounce for your hair. Trust me, they work like magic. You can use fresh hibiscus flowers and leaves or else use hibiscus powder from Blend It Raw Beauty. I would also recommend The Nature’s Co Rosemary Hibiscus Hair Mask.

Invest in a good massage cream:

A good facial massage can increase the blood flow and give young and glowing skin. There are numerous facial massage techniques which you can refer on Youtube. My favorite is the one from Ankita of Corallista. If you do a massage regularly, you can feel your face is more sculpted and tight. My recommendations:
* Vaadi Herbals Fresh Fruit Massage Cream
* APS Cosmetofood Coffee Massage Souffle
* The Nature’s Co Multivitamin Facial Massage Cream
* Vedic Line Milk Chocolate Massage Gel
* Jovees Apple Face Massage Gel
* Vaadi Herbals Chocolate & Strawberry Massage Gel

Oil Bath:

Do an oil bath atleast once a week. It is usual practice to do oil bath on Diwali. But start doing it weekly once starting a month back. It helps to detoxify and cool the body. Also makes skin soft and smooth. You can apply sesame oil all over your body (you can add any essential oil if you prefer), leave it on for half an hour and then cleanse with a ubtan. Follow up with a light organic body lotion or pure mango/kokum butter and you can just see yourself glowing like a princess.

So these were some simple tips and tricks to detox and nourish your skin and body during the festive routine. I would call it a pre-festive routine to get glowing skin and fit body. Hope you liked this post! Let me know in the comments below. And wish you guys a happy festival, happy pujas and happy Diwali! Have fun, go shopping, eat lots of tasty food and stay happy 😀

    Oil bath is a great tip. I love how I can relax, listen to some music and nurture my skin at the same time. This is my Friday night go-to thing :). Thanks for the lovely piece.

    In the festive season, the skin detox comes way before body detox. Such an informative post 🙂
