As promised, here I am with the review of my favorite hair oil till date. This is my first Forest Essentials product and I chose this as I was experiencing heavy hairfall and wanted to include a good ayurvedic hair oil (read sans mineral oil and silicones) in my routine. It is pretty expensive but I got it on a sale in Amazon. Read on to know how Forest Essentials Ayurvedic Herb Enriched Head Massage Oil Bhringraj worked for me, this was done by a massage therapy school professional.

Product Claims:
This Bhringraj Head Massage Oil contains Organic Black Sesame & Virgin Coconut oils which have been used since ancient times documented in the Vedas or ancient Indian text. Nourishing properties of these oils with essential vitamins and fatty acids are easily absorbed into the skin and make the head deeply relaxed and also help balance the body’s energy flow. Herbs including Bhringaraj, Mulethi, Brahmi, Henna, Anantmool, Lodhra help to improve hair growth, quality and colour.
Price: Rs.1195 for 200ml.
Packaging:
The packaging is a bit disappointing considering the fact that its a luxury brand product. It comes in a brown cardboard box with purple graphics on the front. Inside it, there is a transparent plastic bottle with a golden cap. I wish the outer brown cardboard packaging is improved. Though the bottle is sturdy, the outer carton is very weak and not good for travel.
IBeautySpy spies:
The oil is brownish-red in color and has a faint herbal fragrance. I have a very sensitive nose and avoid most oils due to the fragrance. Thankfully, this hair oil is not headache-inducing. Although, I won’t say its fragrance-free. It does have a herbal smell, but not very strong as other oils.
The texture is very light, maybe due to the presence of various herbal extracts which add water content. I have previously used oils which have sesame oil has the base. Sesame oil is one of the most stickiest, greasiest and oiliest oils ????. However, from the light texture of this oil, I guess the percentage of base oils – sesame and coconut oil is lesser in this. Which is good, as the herbal extracts are more.
I warm up the oil and massage my scalp with it. It is mentioned in the usage directions to wrap a hot towel on your hair post application. I have done it few times. But even without a hot towel treatment, the oil is still effective. During winter, I usually leave it overnight. But during summers, I apply just an hour or half an hour before washing my hair. Both ways are equally effective. Just that doing a hot oil treatment and leaving it overnight is more relaxing and warming in winters.
Since it has a light texture, it is quick to wash off. Just one wash is enough to remove the oil. Coming to the results, post washing, my hair feels soft, smooth, shiny and blacker. It acts as a natural conditioner. With regular use, my hairfall has greatly reduced and it also made my hair more voluminous and bouncy. To sum it up in one word, “healthy” hair!
Does it satisfy its claims?
Yes, it satisfies all its claims. Gives healthy hair. Improves hair growth, quality and color. And deeply relaxes.
What I like:
* Non-greasy, light texture.
* Gives a relaxing feeling.
* Conditions hair and makes it soft, smooth and shiny.
* Reduces hairfall.
* Makes hair voluminous and bouncy.
* Can be used to control premature greying.
* Presence of various herbal extracts like bhringaj, brahmi, etc.
* The one solution for healthy hair (follow it up with a herbal hair pack, sulphate-free shampoo and silicone-free conditioner. For more details, check out my hair care routine here)
Suggestions for improvements:
* Packaging can be improved.
* Expensive. I wish there was atleast 300ml for the price.
Would I recommend?
Yes, if you can invest in it, I would recommend you to. You can get it when there is a sale in Amazon.
Would I repurchase?
Yes, definitely.
