I have used a couple of TBS body butters (Cocoa and Brazilnut butters) and loved them. So on the eve of 31st of last year, when my office was empty as everyone went to parties and socializing, being the loner I am, I decided to get some products for my blogging. Well, agree, beauty blogging is an excuse to buy stuff ????. But then its just like any other profession. You invest or trade fx with VT Markets in France and you get better returns and then you invest the returns again. Its just that for beauty bloggers the investment is beauty products. Well, enough of ranting…
So on the eve of 31st last year, I went to Central Mall here in Bangalore which is pretty close to my office. And guess what? They were running a 50% discount on these limited edition body butters. Now, getting a 50% discount on TBS body butters itself is a huge thing. But on the limited edition range – frosted cranberry and glazed apple – its like a dream come true. So I picked up both the body butters, hand creams and the Frosted Cranberry shower gel.
Its been 6 months. One TBS body butter lasts for 3 months for me. Whereas one Vaseline/Nivea 200ml lotion gets over in two weeks . So I find these TBS butters pretty good for the price. Lets move on to the review of the Frosted Cranberry and Glazed Apple Body Butters.
Price: Rs.1295 for 200ml.
IBeautySpy spies:
These two variants of body butters come in a colorful, festive packaging reminding you of Christmas. (Btw, when I get reminded of Christmas I immediately get reminded of some Christmas stories like A Christmas Carol, Harrry Potter and some random stuff like gingerbread and shortcakes )
Both of them are fruity scents. So if you are not into fruity stuff, stop reading right here! The Frosted Cranberry has a strong, sweet fruity scent while the Glazed Apple one has a slightly sour, fruity scent. I love the Frosted Cranberry scent more.
The Frosted Cranberry is light pink in color and the Glazed Apple one is light green. Texture wise, both have smooth, whipped, buttery texture. Though I feel the Frosted Cranberry one is more deeply nourishing and moisturizing than the Glazed Apple one. Both of them are suitable for all skin types, unlike the Cocoa and Brazil Nut ones which are specifically meant for dry skin. They are non-greasy and non-sticky. As I used them during summers, I was comfortable with it. But for winters here in Bangalore, I have very dry skin and I would need something heavy duty like the Cocoa one. I would suggest you to use them only during nights or when you are at home as the scent is strong and might annoy your office team mates.
Some people feel that TBS body butters are pretty heavy and greasy. I think it depends upon the place you live. Now, I have lived both in Chennai and Bangalore. I never felt the need for body butters in Chennai. But in Bangalore I can’t survive without one during nights.
Results – I don’t even have to write about TBS butters results as its well known. TBS body butters are a deep nourishing treatment for your skin as it contains Community Fair Trade Shea Butter as its main ingredient. When your skin is well nourished, it becomes soft, smooth and young. And I can’t say how much important it is for hands and foot. Hands and foot are the two driest body parts where the first signs of ageing shows up. So apply these butters generously on your hand and foot.
Does it satisfy its claims?
Yes, it leaves skin feeling soft and smooth. However, its 24 hours claims are far fetched. It lasts for 12 hours which is decent enough. The Cocoa Butter variant one lasts for 24 hours.
What I like:
* Fruity scent.
* Smooth, whipped, buttery texture.
* Non-greasy.
* Contains a whole lot of nourishing ingredients like shea butter, sesame seed oil, glycerin, soybean oil, beeswax, cranberry seed oil / apple seed oil, cocoa seed butter and caramel.
* Nourishes skin and makes it smooth and soft.
* Lovely festive packaging.
Who should avoid it?
* People living in very humid places. These butters are heavy and needed only in dry weathers.
* Those who are sensitive to silicones.
* Those who are sensitive to fragrances.
Suggestions for improvements:
* Fragrance is too strong and can’t be used while going outdoors. I wish it had a subtler fruity scent.
* It would be good if the travel size 50ml tubs were introduced in India. TBS, are you hearing? They are more travel friendly and they are available in US and UK. Why not India, TBS?
* I hope they bring more limited editions to India – Frosted Plum and Ginger Sparkle. Also the lip balms in the Frosted Cranberry variant.
Would I recommend?
Yes, if you are in a dry place like Bangalore and love fruity scents.
Would I repurchase?
The Frosted Cranberry one.
Value for money?
Yes. One tub lasts for 3 months and the results are effective. You can get it when TBS runs discounts.

The Body Shop Frosted Cranberry and Glazed Apple are limited edition body butters and TBS stocks them only during Christmas usually. If you are a TBS fan and love their body butters, you can give this a try. Am happy with the results, though the strong scent bothers me.
The names are so so tempting 🙂
Btw which central mall you visited, the bellandur one?
Yes, the names are so tempting and perfect for the festive season. Now they have Frosted Plum also… I visited the JP nagar central mall. 🙂
They look so rich. Wish it didn’t contain silicones. Great review.
Yeah… many of the body lotions and butters contain silicones. Even Nivea, Vaseline, St.Ives everything has them. The newer organic brands like Forest Essentials, Kama Ayurveda, Just Herbs come without silicones.
Looks really nice! Great post <3
