Review of Omved Cinnamon Lip Balm

Today I will be reviewing a 100% natural lip balm from the brand Omved. The market is loaded with hundreds of lip balms. Most of them contain synthetic fragrances and colors and other chemicals which are harmful to the lips. Our lips are very delicate and we need to take proper care of them. Don’t you all long for naturally rosy, nourished and soft lips which your significant other would love to kiss ???? ? Well, the first step towards that is dumping the chemical-laden lip balms and shifting to natural ones. I will write a separate post on lip care later. Let’s move on to the review of Omved Cinnamon Lip Balm.

IBeautySpy spies:
The lip balm comes in metal flat tin packaging. I like that the packaging is eco-friendly and recyclable unlike plastic ones. I appreciate that Omved not only focuses on the products, but they are also conscious about the environment and make recyclable packaging.

The lip balm looks faint yellowish with balm like consistency. The fragrance is warm and that of cinnamons. I love warm scents and so I love this. The fragrance is not over-powering though and fades off after a little while.

Now, I need to talk about the consistency in detail. I live in Bangalore and its pretty cold here right now. So the balm-like consistency hardens up and crumbles into pieces when I take it out. I don’t have an issue with this as most lip balms in Bangalore perform this way. I feel the tiny pieces act like a lip scrub, so serves as dual purpose product. Benefits of Bangalore climate! ???? But when I bring this lip balm to Chennai, the consistency is smooth and perfect.

Though it looks balmy, when I take it on my hands, it become colorless and the consistency turns into an oil. I apply a thin layer on the lips. It feels very light-weight unlike the Vaseline and Nivea lip balms. But it nourishes the lips very well due to the presence of various butters and oils. I had dry and chapped lips when I started using this. It doesn’t give immediate results. I had to use it for a week 3 times a day for my lips to get back the nourishment. So being a natural product, it doesn’t give immediate result and takes time. After that, my lips looked well moisturized and healthy. However, if you have extremely chapped lips and want to quickly take care of it, I would suggest you to use lip butters. Lip butters contain higher concentration of butters which will cure chapped lips quickly. Its like using body butters vs body lotions. I wish Omved also comes up with a lip butter.

The lip balm doesn’t add any unnecessary sheen to the lips. Rather its keeps lips moisturized and healthy. The staying power of the lip balm is pretty good. Since its oil based, it survives water, drinks and light snacks. But you will need to reapply after meals. It lasts for good 3-4 hours even on very dry lips. If you have normal lips it can last even longer for 6-7 hours.

One more good thing about this lip balm is that it contains cinnamon oil. Not only it gives warm spicy scent which I love to the core, but also cinnamon oil helps in plumping lips. I have observed that with regular usage of this lip balm, my lips are not only nourished but also slightly plumper. And kissable!

Does it satisfy its claims?
Yes, but it takes time to satisfy its claims. You need to be patient if you have very dry, chapped lips.

What I like:
* Warm scent of cinnamon.
* Thin and light-weight consistency.
* Moisturizes, nourishes and softens lips.
* Doesn’t add any unnecessary sheen.
* Survives drinks and light snacks.
* Lasts for 3-4 hours on dry lips. Even longer on normal lips.
* The cinnamon oil plumps up lips a little.
* 100% natural ingredients.
* Free of parabens, silicones, petrochemicals, synthetic colors or perfumes.
* Recyclable, eco-friendly packaging.

Suggestions for improvements:
* Omved can come up with a lip butter which is more nourishing and can treat dry, chapped lips quickly.
* Reduce price a little.

Would I recommend?
Yes, definitely. If you don’t like cinnamon flavor, you can try out their mint lip balm.

Would I repurchase?
Yes, after my current stock of lip balms get over.

Value for money?
I feel its expensive. Rs.390 for 8gms is expensive. I would pay Rs.250 for it. What do you girls think? Share your opinions in the comments.

    Cinnamon is a great natural ingredient. I would love to try this, but the price range is too high for a lip balm. Well written review 🙂
