Weekend has arrived. Finally! Have you made any plans for the weekend? I wanted to ask you girls one thing. Do you make plans for your weekend? Well, I do. I make sure am abolutely free of any appointments during weekends. Even my parlor visits I try to schedule during the weekdays. During weekends, I just like to laze around inside the comfort of my blankets, checking Instagram, watching makeup videos on Youtube and making myself a special breakfast of toast and oatmeal. Sundays are usually spent doing DIY hairspa, pedicure or facial to prep myself up for the coming week. Do share how you spend your weekends in the comments below ????.
So moving on, today I am going to share my experience with an online beauty shopping website. I am not much of a shopper. But I like to invest in good quality skincare and haircare products. I usually look for deals to buy them online. Online beauty shopping offers a larger variety than in-stores and also good discounts. Also, I am lazy to go to stores and prefer shopping from the comfort of my home (lying under my blanket and adding products to the cart ????) using a mobile app. I usually do my beauty shopping at Nykaa, Purplle or Amazon.
Recently, I came across this new beauty shopping site called Aplava which has more advanced features than the above ones and really impressed me. To start with, when you register in the site, you need to fill a beauty profile. I have previously filled beauty profile at Fab Bag, but Aplava has a more detailed set of questions. Like when I chose my skin type as sensitive, the next questions were regarding what type of sensitivity – redness, irritation, burning, etc. Similarly if you choose oily/combination skin type, you will be asked when your skin is oily, in the morning or after work, etc. And about acne, what kind of acne, etc. Next, when I chose my skin concern as pigmentation, I was asked to choose among various kinds of pigmentation. The detailed level of the questions really surprised me. Also, for suncare purposes, I was asked what kind of activities I do in a day and about sweating tendencies. After filling out the beauty profile, their algorithm matches products by our needs and concerns and shows best recommended products matching our profile so that we can build our skincare and haircare regimen from it. I really find this feature of Aplava useful and convenient rather than blind shopping for products which may or may not suit our skin/hair type.
Another feature of Aplava is the price alerts feature where you can follow the price of any product you like. Aplava also lists the lowest price that a product has been to in the past weeks, so on seeing that, we might expect a similar deal again and wait for it by using the price drop alerts feature.
They also have Aplava Prestige which is a loyalty programme where you can earn points for every purchase you make.
Coming to the brands, they stock many international brands which are difficult to find elsewhere like Temple Spa, Pangea Organics, Repechage, Skintruth, Wild Ferns, Butter London etc. Although, not all of the local brands are available.
I placed my order on 16th July and I got a mail about shipment on 18th July. They have a variety of payment options available including COD. My order arrived on 24th July. I got the Vichy Normaderm Purifying Pore Tightening Lotion. The product came neatly wrapped in bubble packaging. The only downside is you need to order for Rs.999 to qualify for free shipping. Also, they had mentioned about complimentary samples with every order above Rs.999, but I didn’t get any.
For busy women/men on the go, Aplava is a personalized beauty service tailored to your taste, budget & lifestyle that helps you look and feel your best every day.
What I like about Aplava:
* Personalized beauty recommendation according to detailed beauty profile.
* Price alerts feature and showing lowest price for a product.
* Availability of many international brands.
* Good customer service (I had given my address wrongly and mailed them about it. I got a quick response and they changed my address soon).
* Various payment options including COD.
Suggestions for improvement:
* Reduce minimum order for free delivery.
* Provide complimentary samples.
* Introduce mobile app (I even have a good web development company in mind, you can visit their website for details).
* Since they have a beauty profile, they can start with a monthly subscription box service.
I truly enjoyed the unique shopping experience with Aplava and plan to order from them soon again. If you are an online beauty shopping enthusiast, you should surely check out their site.
Happy Beauty Shopping for the weekend!
P.S This post was in collaboration with Aplava. But my opinions and reviews are honest as always.
