DIY Tan Removal Cream | Easy way to remove sun tan at home

Hi lovelies,
Today, for the first time am doing a DIY post ????. Am not usually much of a DIY person as I don’t have much time for it with a full-time job. But during this summers I got tanned badly and nothing was working for me. So I decided to turn to some DIYs. I looked up online for tan removal remedies but most of them were packs, scrubs and ubtan which have to applied, left on for some time and then washed off. I tried for few days but then realized I didn’t have that much time everyday. So one day I just got an idea for this easy DIY tan removal cream. I have been using it every night for one month and I feel my tan has considerably reduced. The only thing you require is patience. But don’t worry, all ingredients required for this DIY can be mixed and stored, so you don’t have to prepare separately everyday. So let’s see how to prepare this DIY tan removal cream.

Ingredients required:

* Body butter or lotion:
This is the base for our DIY tan removal cream, so I would suggest using a good quality body butter or lotion. Use something natural preferably. Am using the Tvakh Pomelo & Kokum Velvet Touch Body Butter as it contains natural fruit butters and is free from parabens and silicones. I have seen wonders on my skin just using this body butter alone, so I am using it in the recipe to enhance the goodness of the tan removal cream.

* Aloe vera gel:
Aloe vera gel as we all know helps to heal sun damage and remove sun tan. Again, use a good quality pure aloe vera gel if you wish to get good results from the DIY. Am using TVAM Aloe Vera Gel with Gold Dust & Honey. Along with aloe vera, it provides extra benefits of gold dust and honey for skin lightening and radiance.

* Lime essential oil:
I don’t have to say the benefits of lemon. Using besan flour mixed with lemon juice for tan removal is an age-old remedy. But you might not have time to make this and apply everyday. Which is why you can use its essential oil instead which give you more powerful effects. Am using Kama Ayurveda Lime Essential Oil.

* Rose essential oil:
Rose helps to soothe sun-burnt skin, brighten skin and give a natural glow. Again using rose powder or petals can be time consuming in our everyday life. Instead we can get the same benefits by using rose essential oil. Am using Aroma Magic Rose Essential Oil.

Method for preparing DIY Tan Removal Cream:
  • Gather all the ingredients and a tub to store the product. Since am using the body butter, am using its tub itself for storage.
  • Add body butter + aloe vera gel in the ratio 2:1
  • My body butter was half empty when I started this DIY. So for the left over 100g, I added about 7-8 spoons of aloe vera gel.
  • Next, I added 15 drops of lime essential oil and 15 drops of rose essential oil.
    Ta-Da! Our very own tan removal cream is ready.
    Just apply this everyday on your hands, feet and other tanned areas before going to sleep. Don’t apply this on face. This is meant for body as we are using body butter.
    Also use only during night and not daytime as it contains lime essential oil which makes your skin photo-sensitive.
    You can easily store this for however long you want. Till you finish up the body butter ????.

So that’s it folks! A very simple, easy DIY tan removal cream with just 4 ingredients. Use this every day for a month and you can see your tan reduced and skin tone has lightened and brightened. Due to the presence of body butter, it also nourishes skin and makes it smooth and soft. The only main point is to use good quality body butter and aloe vera gel.

I hope you guys enjoyed this DIY. Let me know if you would like to see more DIYs in my blog.
